As something of a spread betting novice, I downloaded this app with some scepticism and initially dismissed it as little more than a marketing ploy to catch poor punters out as they trade half-distracted by somebody’s elbow knocking into their face on the tube.
Well, from using the app for two weeks every day, my opinion has totally changed. My belief remains that to trade effectively in spread betting you need to dedicate your focus to the market you are trading on, else you can risk to lose, and lose big, sometimes even more than your initial stake. However, rather than finding this mobile platform a hindrance, I actually found it a very effective way to keep on top of the markets.
This app gives you access to your account and the markets 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you can dedicate as much, or as little, time as you want to your trades, independent of whether you are sat in front of a computer screen.
Of course, I wouldn‘t risk trading on the go if it meant using a platform that I didn’t feel 100% happy with and thought was unreliable. However, from my experiences with CMC’s app, it is entirely easy to use and doesn’t feel like a compromised version of the existing platform.
For me, one of the most useful features was its demo feature. The ability to trade ‘risk free’ at any given moment familiarised me with the whole process in a way that felt effortless and pressure-free. By the time I signed up for a proper account I felt confident in my knowledge of spread betting and was able to place real trades without the same degree of trepidation that I experienced in my previous (largely unsuccessful) forays into spread betting.
The CMC Markets app is intelligently designed and easy to use, which is essential for when you’re trying to close a position. What’s more, you can create a bespoke platform that you feel comfortable trading on by compiling watchlists, setting default stop losses and taking profit orders, all of which make the world of spread betting that little bit simpler to undertake.
